Game over! Ryan Dungey ha traslato nella storia la casa motociclistica austrica. KTM ha conquistato in modo ineccepibile anche il nuovo mondo. Insieme al titolo anche l’annuncio che il binomio pilota moto è stato riconfermato per altri due anni (fine contratto 2017). Ad Houston Dungey controlla e termina secondo alle spalle di Cole Seely, alla prima vittoria. Terzo Eli Tomac e tanto basta per chiudere in anticipo un campionato dominato fin dalle prime gare. Cooper Webb, dopo la defezione di Jessy Nelson, ha diligentemente chiuso la pratica portando a casa gara e titolo della categoria 250 West Coast.

Gara 450
Allo start è sempre la KTM nr.29 di Andrew Short a sfilare davanti al gruppo. Alle sue spalle Chad Reed e Cole Seely. Partenza caratterizzata da qualche sbavatura, forse dovuta al nervosismo, per Dungey che alla prima curva è oltre la decima posizione. Eli Tomac invece conferma la pessima attitudine allo start ed è ancora più indietro del pilota Red Bull KTM. A Seely bastano pochi metri per regolare Reed e Short e portarsi al comando. Fine della gara per la prima posizione. 20 giri interamente condotti in testa lo proiettano verso la prima vittoria in carriera nella categoria 450 e il terzo posto in classifica generale. Alle sue spalle tutta l’attenzione del numeroso pubblico è dedicata alla rimonta della coppia Dungey Tomac. Al finish line Dungey è secondo e Tomac terzo. Per Ryan la consacrazione dopo quattro anni di apprendistato in sella alla moto austriaca.

‘To win in 2010 was awesome, but this time I felt we really earned it and deserved it, It’s hard to know what to say, there’s just so much running through my mind right now. KTM brought me here four years ago to win a championship and we finally accomplished it. I pictured tonight going a little differently in my mind, but we caught a few breaks and kept it on two wheels. We had to work for it tonight’.
Cole Seely:
‘It’s unreal. I just tried to charge as fast as I could through the first 20 laps and open as big a lead as I could, It was surreal because I had such a big lead that I could cruise. I just did what I know how to do best and put down heaters when I needed to. Once I did it was relatively easy from there.’.

Gara 250
La defezione di Jessy Nelson a poche ore dal via della settima prova del campionato West Coast della categoria 250, ha praticamente consegnato nelle mani del pilota Yamaha Cooper Webb il titolo 2015. Onestamente Cooper non ha sbagliato niente nemmeno nella notte di Houston ed ha conquistato meritatamente vittoria e titolo nonostante una partenza difficile. Alle sue spalle sono saliti sul podio Shane Mcelrath e Malcolm Stewart

‘This is unreal, I dedicated my whole life for this moment right here and it paid off. I was a four-year-old chasing a dream and it came true. I put my head down, after finishing seventh at the first race of the season, because I knew I wasn’t a seventh place guy. I knew I belonged up here so I never quit. I kept fighting and here we are’.
