AMA National Florida Buona la prima per Musquin
Jacksonville (Florida).
Eli Tomac: “It was a combo. First of all horrible start, just lit it up in the sand and went knowwhere, but Imy effort forward wasn’t there, was struggling to find my pace. I made one change after practice and it just wasn’t there. But it was totally on me there, just couldn’t find the right feeling. Second moto, I can’t remember the last time I had a holeshot like that, we were bar to bar going through the first turn and it was just much better. I was just lighter on the bike, getting through the bumps a lot better, getting over stuff. It was more me. The difference from Moto 1 to Moto 2 was the result of a bad start in the first one. Not sure what happened there. I got a much better Moto 2 start and had a better feel on the bike. I’m happy to get through the heat today. The sand was a serious challenge and it changes things up for us, but overall it was a good day.”
Zach Osborne “It’s been heavy. The workloads are not light and the class is stacked. I’m struggling with the pace at the beginning. The first few laps they’re pulling me right now. That’s what I need to work on, but overall the transition has been pretty smooth. The biggest thing for me right now is the last three laps. It looks good on paper that I’m passing people on the last few laps, but I’m just passing the same people that passed me at the beginning of the race.”
Marvin Musquin: “At the beginning of the season we were struggling with the bike, so we actually went back to what we had last year. Sometimes you’re leading and you’re winning, and sometimes it feels easier then when you’re in third and fourth. You’re just floating over the bumps, applying my technique. I just clicked. The track was awesome, they did a great job, the dirt was great, it got rough, many lines were developing. I tried to catch Tomac. I knew I had the overall, but winning both motos is the best, I just kind of ran out of energy there at the end. I’m a little disappointed. I didn’t see Zach coming from third, but it’s still good. I salvaged third place in the moto, and that was good enough to earn the overall.”
