AMA National Southwick Tomac inarrestabile

Southwick, Massachusetts. Un altra giornata perfetta, caratterizzata da condizioni meteo ideali, ha fatto da cornice al sesto round del Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship 2022. Le leggendarie sabbie di The Wick 338 hanno ospitato una delle sfide più emozionanti dell’estate con Eli Tomac assoluto protagonista della classe 450, autore di una inappellabile doppia affermazione. Nella Classe 250, Jett Lawrence è tornato sul gradino più alto del podio con una eccellente prestazione che gli ha permesso di riconquistare la Tabella Rossa.

Un ruolino di marcia impressionante per Eli Tomac che anche a The Wick 338 ha conquistato facilmente entrambe le finali. Praticamente inarrestabile, ha dettato i tempi della gara ogni volta che è sceso il cancello facendo registrare dei riscontri cronometrici di assoluto rilievo. Mai tra i protagonisti allo start, specialmente in gara uno, Tomac ha saputo rimontare velocemente sui diretti avversari in classifica andando a vincere in entrambe le occasioni, con ampio margine. Con l’affermazione odierna ha ridotto il distacco in classifica generale da Chase Sexton ad un solo punto. L’ufficiale Honda (secondo assoluto) è apparso ancora una volta l’unico pilota in pista in grado di arginare lo stato di grazia di Tomac ma, nonostante gli evidenti sforzi per risalire il gruppo specialmente in gara due, non ha mai avuto nelle sue corde la velocità e la consistenza mostrata dall’avversario. Terzo post per Aaron Plessinger che ha saputo capitalizzare i consueti cali di tensione di Ken Roczen, sempre tra i protagonisti allo start ma mai capace di tenere il ritmo fino al traguardo.

Tabella Rossa ancora nelle mani di Chase Sexton (268 pt) che guida il ranking generale con una sola lunghezza di scarto su Eli Tomac. Terzo posto per Ken Roczen (227 pt).

“We’re just doing what we can. This is a gnarly points race and neither of us [Chase Sexton and I] have made a mistake yet or blinked. We’re both riding really strong. I just got better starts today. This track is so difficult. It just takes everything out of you. I’m done [physically], but it makes winning here that much more satisfying.”

“That was a tough race. I didn’t get a good start [in Moto 2] and those guys were gone. This place has never been my favorite but today was fun. I’m looking forward to battling Eli [Tomac] for the rest of the summer. We need to start winning motos and races, but it’s been a blast so far.”

Dopo il ritiro dello scorso week end causato da un guasto tecnico, Jett Lawrence è tornato in cattedra a Southwick con due prestazioni sontuose impreziosite da riscontri cronometrici eccellenti. Nonostante un piccolo errore in gara uno che lo ha privato per qualche istante della leadership, il giovane australiano ha dominato in entrambe le frazioni. Secondo e terzo posto assoluto rispettivamente per il vincitore dello scorso appuntamento Jo Shimoda e Justin Cooper. Giornata da dimenticare per Hunter Lawrence autore di una pericolosa caduta che ha spento le sue velleità di leadership, almeno per questo appuntamento.

Podio finale composto da Jett Lawrence,  Jo Shimoda e Justin Cooèer. La Tabella Rossa è tornata nelle mani di Jett Lawrence che guida il ranking generale con 261 punti. Secondo e terzo posto per Hunter Lawrence (246 pt) e Jo Shimoda (224 pt)

“I have to be pumped [with the win]. Hunter [Lawrence] had a rough one today. I’d rather not do it [get the point lead] that way and would have rather raced him for it, but the track was brutal. It was a really good day and my starts were good, so I’m happy.”
